Setting the standard for managed security validation, Akaba
today announced the first Web-based vulnerability assessment
system for internal network validation. PointScan, Akaba's
flagship product was created to provide corporations with an easy
way to find potential entry points on public-facing servers that
hackers could exploit. Now, PointScan includes new capabilities
to scan internal networks, giving IT managers peace-of-mind that
their policies are effective and implementations are secure.
Bill Turner, Ph.D., Vice President of network security at
Storageway said, "StorageWay is the world's first managed
storage utility designed for the unique data storage needs of
companies focused on e-businesses, content or service delivery.
As their trusted storage partner, our customers expect us to
keep their data secure and our networks safe from attacks.
I have looked at many other security validation products and
services. The PointScan service is the most comprehensive
solution and most importantly, it can validate internal and
external networks. Anything less just won't work for us."
Industry watchers are aware that vulnerabilities exist within
every network layer. With the new internal scanning capability,
PointScan checks for vulnerabilities on everything, from
desktops to servers, routers to switches, firewalls to VPNs.
Now, Akaba is the only web based solution capable of validating
internal networks, server farms, hosted servers, and VPN links
between partners.
"At /etc/networks inc., we design and implement wide-area
networks and Web presence for medium and large businesses.
We have experience with many vulnerability assessment products
and feel that critical capabilities, like internal scanning
offer a strong value for our clients," said Ted Leis, CEO of
/etc/networks inc. "With PointScan, we now have a value-added,
comprehensive validation and monitoring service that also works
perfectly with the existing infrastructure we use to manage our
customer's networks."
"Scanning the public-facing portion of a network is a great
start - but it's just not enough," said William Hunt, Akaba
Chief Executive Officer. "The 2001 CSI/FBI Computer crimes
and security survey notes that while there are more reported
attempts from the outside, the cost of data loss from internal
sources could be devastating to any sized company. We are
pleased to give our customers and partners a solution to help
them validate their internal networks as well as their external
networks."
The PointScan internal scanning service starts at $4,995 per
network and is available immediately.
